How to Kiss Your Business Phone Provider Good Bye

Posted on 26. Oct, 2009 by in Business Bootstrap

After spending over $2,500 per month on my business phone bill, I am now down to $60. And that includes a sophisticated Virtual PBX, long distance calls, conferencing, virtual dashboard, video conferencing, usage tracking (Which by the way allows me to see who is on the phone. Who is not. How long each employee has been on the phone. To whom they have been talking to — see picture below). You see I am a VoiP kind of girl (no it’s not Vonage or any of those commercial VoiP providers)…but many of you may be asking, what the heck is a VoiP. Before I get into details, let me explain how I got here.

Home Based Business Virtual PBX Dashboard Phone System

You see, I absolutely and completely despise AT&T. I truly and honestly think they are nothing but a greedy company with enough clout and power to bully anyone into submission. It all started many moons ago when I was just staring my business (over 16 years ago) and one day I found out they had taken over my long distance without my approval. It became nothing short of a nightmare to get it straightened out. That taught me a lesson and I locked my long distance service where no one could change it without my approval.

Move on years later, one day I find out AT&T had bought my local provider Bellsouth. To be honest I gave them the benefit of the doubt, but not soon after they had taken over the nightmares began…and I am talking nightmares! Somehow a $27 home bill became an over $300 bill due to a “technicality”….not to mention the HUGE bills for my office. Since we were 100% virtual by now, my reps worked out of their homes, and we needed lines for them…the phone bill was huge, re-routing charges, long distance charges, virtual lines charges, charge per line and on and on and on…I mean it was endless. I felt they just wanted to suck your eyes out…just a greedy, greedy company with no competition and the power to bully you.

As a matter of fact, I refuse to have an iPhone simply because I would have to use AT&T’s service…and that goes against my principles…come on Apple wake up!

Does that story sound familiar to any of you? Well, that is the day I decided to give VoiP a try. In the beginning I was kind of afraid, especially for my business because I did not know what to expect…well, it’s been a few years now that I have a full VoiP system at home as well as in my business. We additionally have a full VoiP PBX, more sophisticated than any of the big commercial PBX’s and I only pay $35 per month for the hosting…oh, and about $25 for my VoiP business lines….did I tell you my AT&T bill was in the hundreds?

Oh and before I forget to tell you, a VoiP is simply a phone over the internet. In other words, the solution is to convert your entire communications system into a mean virtual machine…and kiss your greedy LAN line provider goodbye.
